The Mornington Peninsula Shire's Renewable Resources Unit is seeking an enthusiastic, energetic suitably experienced and qualified person to join the team.
The position shares it’s time between the Shire office in Rosebud and the Eco Living Display Centre at the Briars Park, Mount Martha. You will be required to work regular weekends and can be flexible during the week to suit out of work obligations.
You will be responsible for building community capacity around adaption to, and mitigation of climate change related impacts. You will be working directly with the Mornington Peninsula community with a focus on building awareness and resilience at a household level. You will also be responsible for the ongoing development and operation of the Shire’s Eco Living Display Centre
You will have good project and people management skills, strong analytical and problem solving skills together with strong written, verbal and presentation.
To succeed you will have a Tertiary qualification in an appropriate field of expertise, preferably in social science, environmental management or teaching. You will have experience in development and implementing a variety of consultation, engagement and capacity building techniques, engaging with a variety of community groups and members and experience working in, or with Local Government.
You will need to have a current driver’s licence and a Working with Children Check and be willing to undertake a Police Record Check.

An exciting opportunity exists in our Sport and Leisure Gymnastics team for a Level 1 Coach.
The Gymnastics club is based at Bittern Memorial Centre and offers classes for pre-schoolers through to 16 years of age.
This is a casual position and hours may vary depending on program demand. The current service is offered on:
Wed (4.45 – 6.45pm), Thurs (4.45 – 6.45 pm) Fri 4.45 pm – 7.15 pm) & Saturday (9.00am to 12 noon). School Terms only.
There are also times through the year when opportunities arise to work with school groups during school hours.
The coach will be supervised by the Gymnastics Program Coordinator.
This position will suit a person who enjoys working with children in a sports coaching capacity. Experience in a similar role is desirable. You will have a Working with Children Check and be required to undertake a Police Record Check.

As the Municipal Fire Prevention Officer your role will be to undertake the legislative responsibility as required. You will identify issues of importance to the community and the development and implementation of proactive programs that seek to prevent or reduce the incident of bushfire and other fires in our community.
This role also forms part of the Shire’s Emergency Management planning, response and recovery activities, through the development of policies planning processes, and response and recovery efforts.
You will have a high level of oral and written communication skills with an ability to effectively communicate with the public, team members, management, the media and other government agencies. You will have an ability to respond to written requests including interpretation of Shire policy and the production of reports that influence policy change, ability to gain cooperation and assistant form the community and team members.
To succeed you will have a formal qualification in fire management disciplines together with considerable experience in bushfire prevention and/or response. Excellent mediation and negotiation skills together with demonstrated commitment to community fire safety.

You will have well developed literacy, written and verbal communication skills together with an ability to discuss and liaise effectively with employees, contractors and the general public to resolve problems.
To succeed you will need to have a relevant post secondary qualification, a Diploma or Certificate from TAFE (Or equivalent), two years experience in waste, civil engineering or an associated field/industry, experience in Contract Management and Occupational Health and Safety together with Auditing skills.
